The Bike/Walking Trail has been Paved

The paving of the expanded bike/walking trail at Geneva State Park was completed the end of last week. In addition, the 2 bridges were renovated, making for a comfortable trip.

The paved trail is a wonderful addition to the park. It is also great to see so many people enjoying nature at its finest while increasing their physical activity.

During the time the bridge over Cowles Creek was being renovated, the birds found their way to our beach for a few days. We were fortunate to see the heron a few times. Here is some footage from one of those mornings (a little dreary and overcast).

Obviously, the heron got annoyed with the noise from the geese.

Great Father's Day on Lake Erie

Great sunset for the Summer Solstice.
The day was picture-perfect. Lots of traffic on the water (both small and big vessels).

Weddings at The Lakehouse Inn

Here are some shots of our latest wedding. Mother Nature did not cooperate totally, however the group had a great time and the rain did not kick in until after appetizers. We moved dinner inside, however dessert was able to be enjoyed on the patio and of course the bonfire on the beach at sunset.
A peek at the tables before the rain kicked in. The bride and guests enjoying the bonfire and roasting marshmallows. The bride and groom enjoying the sunset and smores....
....And their guests who were not camera shy.

Red Sky in the Morning...

...Sailors take warning!!!

Although this was a gorgeous sunrise, there is definitely much red and storms are on the way (the thunder is rumbling as I type).
This has been an interesting week; cloudy and misty during the day, however around 5pm the sun pops out for very pleasant evenings. We will see if it stays the course this evening, as we enjoy the start of the weekend. Don't forget, Sunday is Father's Day, in addition to the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and the official start of summer.

The Sunset- Clearly a Local Attraction

Yes, sunset time is clearly a highlight of the day, especially for our guests.

This is what they were admiring:

My Morning Jaunt thru Geneva State Park

I was so surprised by what I saw early this morning walking through Geneva State Park, I just had to share the wildlife beauty we sometimes take for granted.

Here is a shot of the marina shortly after sunrise.

Okay, the Midges have been here TOO Long....

I refused to write about them last week, hoping they would go away.

No such luck! They have proliferated beyond belief. The good thing is we have found that running fans and spraying OFF keeps them away from the patios. We have been very fortunate that our guests have been able to eat outside at the Grille and they have not been bothered too much on the Winery patio.

Of course our first wedding was yesterday. Overall the tactics we took were very effective. The only modification we had to make was to serve the food inside; however the guests were able to eat outside without issue.

Now for a better view of the lake:

If you really want to know more about the pesky bugs here is what the Plain Dealer wrote about last week. Is a Midge the same as a Mufflehead? We always thought they were, however if so, read this contradiction. When I showed Sam the articles, his response "Well that means no one really knows what causes the infestation?"
